I saw this machine for sale on Edmonton FBM the other day (Edmonton Canada, not UK), and noted the long spindle which is used to hold a stack of records secure when transporting.
The tall spindle fits into a metal piece on the inner lid. Looks like a good idea, but I had not seen it before. Anyone else seen one of these?
I am posting this in machines and not in marketplace alerts, because of the odd spindle feature.
There is a video of the machine playing, and quite nicely, but the fellow is asking a lot.

Interesting. Looks like they are using the spindle to serve double duty as a record holder. The records stack on the spindle which then goes into the fixture on the lid when the lid is secured shut. That's a LOT of heavy shellac records though. Your carrying arm would be twice as buff as your other arm from hauling it around!

About the Sonora. I had one exactly like it. For a portable it was pretty high class. Nice features, strong smooth motor, quality tone arm & reproducer. I had too many portables so I sold mine at the Chicago show. The long spindle was a nice feature.
