For Sale: Mahogany HMV 511 Gramophone - £275

I’ve decided to streamline my collection to focus on the things that i use more, a 2 bed bungalow gets cramped when its got a few EMG’s in it
Ive always considered the mahogany HMV 511’s to be the prettiest cabinet gramophones ever made, this one was originally sold at a store called Bowrans in Newcastle upon tyne (Nice to see, what was at the time, a top of the line machine being sold locally to me), when I bought it the gramophone was sawed off and short (much like uncle Mort), I carefully re-carved the bottom half of the legs and grafted them back on, they’re full strong and barely noticeable, the rest of the gramophone is original, the quad spring motor has been re-built (a big job in itself!) and it plays beautifully, it has its gold no.4 soundbox
The finish is original and in respectable condition, some signs of its age, the doors do swing freely so some new lower hinges may not go amiss, i’m sure not too hard to find
Based in North Shields near Newcastle, if your further afield I’m happy to pass it over to a Shipley courier of your booking if desired and can secure the soundbox, turntable and winding handle in the horn for transport
