that's a jacobean style cabinet - I'd never seen the console/lowboy version before, but I used to have the upright model...

I think who ever did their cabinets was quite sophisticated for the time. It seems that the proportions are often very good and the woods used are top notch. It may be that is reflective of their more exclusive designs though, as I know of a upright standard mahogany machine not far from here that is quite severe looking. Something like a cabinet version of the table top machines, odd shaped lids and harsh sides.
