I was rebuilding my long throat Victor Exhibition reproducer today. When I tried to screw in the mica screw it "jumped out" and got lost. What I did was I carefully lined up the mica with the needle bar. I carefully applied a drop of ACC adhesive(crazy glue) onto the needle bar and mica. After it dried, I did the same thing on the other side. The result is a strong air tight repair. I know I will be cursed by a future collector, but it works for me. Has anybody else encountered the problem of a lost mica screw?

You can buy replacements from Ron Sitko and others. Although I've only ever lost one, I have some spares on hand if it ever happens again. I do rebuilds in a shallow box so if a screw goes flying, it lands inside the box 99% of the time.

No, but jumpin' mica screws are related to coiled Jesus! springs. They ascend in the air and will never be seen again in this lifetime.
