About to renew right now. I was happy to see the magazine in my mialbox, but was looking forward to the usual, charming Christmas/Holiday themed cover...

Jerry,
I'm sorry you've had trouble with the online renewal. I feel for you - truly. I have NO patience for the online hoops we're often made to jump through in order to accomplish the simplest things. My wife could tell you about my short fuse with "tech." How people can love this stuff is beyond me...unless they enjoy learning new, different, and less-intuitive ways to do the same things every few years.
That rant being over, I must point out that (1) you are NOT required to login to renew your dues. Many, many APS members renew via mail (and note the new address below to do so!). And, (2) not keeping track of your user name and password is beyond the APS's control. I use a very efficient tech for this: a paper and pen. It's always handy and never crashes on me!
But seriously, I do commiserate with your frustration. Here's the antidote:

Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

George,
The renewal notice that came with the latest magazine states, "Log in using member credentials". If there is some way to do it otherwise, then please include that in future dues notices.
As to keeping track of my login information, yes, that's 100% my failing. No arguments about that whatsoever. Any frustrations I've vented here are nothing compared to the anger I've thrust upon myself over this.
Meanwhile, the check is in the mail

I’ve found the renewal process frustrating also. And had an issue this year. But was able to communicate with powers to be via email and get it fixed. I also like checking into the forum from time to time. Plus there are some useful links to information on the sight. My issues are related to using an iPad.
When I retired I didn’t want to deal with a desktop PC anymore. So it was an iPad for me. But I also realized it’s still mostly a PC world.
Aside from this, I wish everyone a safe & memorable Christmas Holiday.
Glenn

Jerry, you've hit the nail on the head. We can diagnose problems encountered with 125 year-old machinery (often sight unseen!). We can disassemble/clean/properly lubricate/reassemble/adjust powerful and/or delicate spring motors. We can remove 15-foot coiled snakes from a can the size of a donut AND put them back in without a scratch. We can rebuilt sound boxes/reproducers with the delicacy of a surgeon. So why won't this %#*!@!!! software accept my information?!
I really don't think it's us. (I choose to ignore all those teenagers...)
