I'm inspired by a parallel thread in which Nipper, complete with Santa hat, appears with a Columbia AH. I have "critters" with three of my machines, all on a high shelf, and I got to thinking it might be fun to see other folks' similar displays. Photos of my little zoo, in which the AH gets a feline rather than canine companion, are below; the machines in question are the aforementioned Columbia AH, a Pathé 1 cylinder player, and a Victor Monarch Junior. Let's see yours!

Couple of things...

Here's a photo of Nipper in front of a French machine. I enjoy Nipper projects and this one was my most ambitious.

Here's a photo of my version of a guest book. Years ago at the old Union Show one vendor had all three sizes of new plastic Nippers. I believe the large one sold for around $160. So when I found one for $100 in a local antique shop I bought it. Since they were inexpensive and easy to find I decided to ask visiting collectors to sign Nipper. And thanks to my Wisconsin Cheese Head friends for his hat! I'd encourage collectors to stop for a visit and sign Nipper when visiting Oregon.

I was upstairs just now on an unrelated "errand," and was reminded of this post. It's a quiet afternoon here (finally!), so I took a few shots of various animals...

Naturally, there must be a pedestrian display so that civilians can point and say, "Oh look! The RCA dog!" It's surprising to me how many civilians DON'T recognize this particular example... Years ago I swiped my wife's Easter decoration to be pressed into service with a Type Q Graphophone. This original King Cole Nipper is bashful; spending his time staring at the rear end of an Edison Home. I liked this Halloween decoration so much that I can't put him away. He didn't like the tune on this, so he's waiting for a refund of his nickel. This kewpie doll has admired a Credenza and a Type AH Disc Graphophone at different times, but she's currently enamored of a Model D Gem. Finally, these Nippers (some dealer promos; some salt & peppers) are very seldom noticed by anyone other than our 3 year-old grandson. He's allowed to carry around the salt & peppers, which pleases him. No, he's not the reason that there are only three...

Some real winners there--well, OK, no disc jockeys on horses, but that would be Winners-with-a-capital-W--but putting a(n Easter) bunny into service is especially delightful!

Our cat Holly is gramophone trained. She has never tried to jump on one, but has been known to sleep underneath one.
