Ibota wax

I finally have a nice stock of thorn needles and an excellent sharpener. These needles work exceptionally well on my VG++ through E records. I'm now interested in trying ibota wax on some of my less pristine records to prevent undue wear on the needles.
I have a question: Does the wax need to be reapplied after a certain number of plays?
