Nice to see a few real phonographs in the new Woody Allen movie, including a fine Triumph and some Gold Moulded cylinders. Also a couple of crapophones in the background, unfortunately, but then again I've seen crapophones at the Paris flea market so that's not unrealistic for the setting. At least they didn't put any of the crapophones in the scenes set in the 1920s.

This may or may not be well known, but Woody is a pretty avid collector of jazz / dance band 78s (he also plays the trumpet in a jazz band). I always liked his movies because there always seems to be more attention payed to proper deatils, such as the right machines for the right time period etc.

I'll have to see this movie, I admit I didn't even know he had a new one out!

The movie was really enjoyable. You must see it (splurge and see it in the theatre!).

In the flea market seen, a (non-existent) record of Cole Porter singing a tune from his "Fifty Million Frenchmen" (I think it was "You Do Something To Me") is being played on a vertical cut Pathé machine (not an Actuelle), which is charming, but probably impossible for 1929.
