Questions on a Paillard Portable

Post by mrvic2 »

Hello Everyone.
Recently I found this beat up Paillard Machine for $40, & before I start fixing it I'd like to find out what model it is so I can look up references & the like. Sadly, there isn't really much to identify it besides the Paillard logo. The model number on the motor seems to be for the motor itself & not the machine, & the only other thing I could find is that its French (based on the text on the Speed Control). Can anybody offer any help?

Your Paillard is Swiss made, as shown in your Picture 2, bottom left. French is one of Switzerland's official languages.
Someone with access to a Paillard catalogue of the period may be able to identify the model, but my dual powered Paillard (since sold) had no model number anywhere on it.

Paillard was an amazing Swiss company that punched far above its weight. From its small factory in St Croix it began making Music Boxes in the 1800's, and then high quality phonographs, gramophones cameras typewriters, movie cameras, projectors and few more things.

They produced many varieties of portable gramophone. I think this is the catalog for your one
