Do you know if they make replica lamp shades for these? Its pretty rough too
so I am trying to gauge what to offer. The seller just said "make offers" so
its a pseudo-auction. Its a Burns Pollock Electric Mfg. Co. product.

Thanks for the links Schweg. Not sure if its a scam or what since the seller won't answer
any emails. I will update on anything new I find out.

They're desirable and would have been considered rare when I started collecting. These days thanks to the internet, and more people cleaning out attics, they turn up often enough to be classified as uncommon- if a phonograph lamp turns up it's likely to be one of these.

Its hard to believe this is sitting in my garage right now. Its all original except for
the wire which was replaced with period-style cord. The seller even had the original lampshade
frame!

I was wondering about the restoration though. I have seen some with what appears to be
an all gold plated base but another (pics attached) that has copper and possibly brass legs/finials.
I would like to bead blast the base but only if there is no gold plating. Its severely oxidized and
after attempting to clean with ammonia there is no evidence of gold plating left that I can see.
I figured I better ask because this is not the usual project.

Nice that you got the shade!!!

I suspect that the original finish did NOT feature highly polished copper and brass- that wouldn't have been in style. It was probably given a coat of amber shellac to imitate antique bronze, or painted gold- possibly with some touches of color. I'd say that at the least it would have been a satin finish. Even the Victor gold plate of the era is satin finished, not mirror polished.

Well done, glad you got it! I'd wait for more advice before I started scrubbing away at the finish. The one in "Phonographs with Flair" pp. 58-59 and on the back cover has a more brownish oxidized looking finish that I bet is original.

The same one is also pictured here:

It's good that the frame for the shade was included. I don't know who to recommend to fix it but once accomplished, it will be a really nice piece.

There are quite a few places that will recover antique lampshades, but be careful not to let them talk you into anything too fancy like lace panels or crystal beaded fringe.
