United Record Label

Can anyone fill me in on "United Records"? I found one at a local 2nd hand shop. I assume it was produced by the Standard Talking Machine Company, because it has the same large spindle hole, and one side lists the perfoming musicians as the "Standard Orchestra".

I've never seen a United with a Standard label 9/16" hole - mine are all 1 7/16; just smaller than a 45RPM. Like Standards, they were Columbia knock-off machines and records with odd sized spindle holes.

No, this one has the same hole as a Standard record.

Then you must have an oddball. I was able to find this website

http://78records.cdbpdx.com/UR/

that shows label scans. These are the only United Talking Machine labels I've seen. Although being a "knockoff" product, anything is possible.

Well, thanks for the website. Those labels are the same as mine except, as before stated, the spindle hole is smaller. Hmm.

I actually saw one of these small-hole Uniteds at an antique store in Hot Springs. Didn't buy it, but did get a pic ...
