I am selling a common Victrola X with a very unusual finish. At first glance it may appear as "fumed oak" but in person, the finish is much more blue and gray and I believe it's "driftwood oak". In forty years of collecting it is the first time I have seen this finish. The price is $400 delivered to CAPS. Thanks for looking. Jerry Blais

that's a great looking machine jerry, but I'm not sure that it's driftwood oak. I used to have a victor XIV that I believe had the same finish as yours - and I think it was either fumed or gunmetal oak (no doubt, they're pretty scarce as well). I've seen one driftwood machine in my time collecting, at a now-closed store in bristol, pa. it was a XVI and the color really was that of driftwood, a very light, washed-out gray color. I tried to buy it, but I was told it already had been sold to that johnson phonograph museum in delware.

I cleaned it with Kotton Klenser and it has not gone back to the blue/gray color. (I hope it does!) Jerry
