Canada Day

I've posted this before, but since it's Canada Day ( called[ Dominion Day when this record appeared) I'll post it again. This is the special jacket for the record issued to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation in 1927. And ironically it was recorded in Camden, not Montreal, rather like the Canadian souvenirs we sell which come from China. :D Canadian Victor got it's first electrical cutters in 1927 but not in time to record a Canadian group playing the anthems.
Side B has The Maple Leaf Forever, which is fun, but not performed much any more.

A great-grandfather (John Mcleod) had his father born in Canada (and his mom in Scotland), so that makes me about ⅛ Canuck/Scots, I guess. hehe. I really like The Maple Leaf Forever, btw. Have a nice Edison cylinder of that.

Your Scots/Canuck genes will always come in handy: sort of a built in antifreeze option.
That record is in the 216000 series which I forgot to mention was the Berliner/Victor Canadian popular series. There are a lot of fun things on it. In in the early days it was Herbert Berliner's bid for independence from the Victor popular list so there are a lot of American artists.... like Billy Murray and The Peerless Quartet .... who came up to Montreal to record in the studios on Lenoir Street( get it? get it? :D. ) When both Victor and Herbert's father Emile put an end to that scheme in 1921, the series consisted of Canadian artists or American ones who were doing long gigs in Canada like Harold Leonard's Orchestra ( a Brunswick group in the States..) or Joseph C Smith's band who appeared as Joseph C Smith and his Mount Royal Orchestra on the Canadian label.

Although I'm not surprised, I thought at least one American would acknowledge the birth of this great nation. Apparently, none of the members here have ever served in the armed forces of this great nation and if they did..............
Shame on all of you...................
