Hi all,
This is my first post here.
I just bought a Columbia BI Sterling and while I've watched enought Antique Roadshows to know that one should "leave the natural patina" - I'd still like to polish my BI horn. I'm not looking to resell and I want it to look it's best.
Any thoughts on the best way to go about this project? It's not in bad contition - some slight blemishes here and there.
Thanks in advance.
Frank

Hi:
If the nickel plating is in good condition, I don't think it's any sin to polish it up again.
It would probably be best to do the job by hand, using a soft rag and a good, non-abrasive metal polish: a buffing wheel can cut through the plating if you're not careful.

I use "Mothers", gentle as can be and it works great with just a soft cloth.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'll definately tackle this one by hand. I've read good things about Mothers chrome polish so I'll give that a whirl.
Thanks again!

Where do you get Mother's from? I never heard of it, and I would like to try it.OrthoSean wrote:I use "Mothers", gentle as can be and it works great with just a soft cloth.

Look in an auto supply store. It's made particularly for polishing "mag" wheel rims.
