Hi! This is my first time using the "Yankee Trader" segment of the site. I'm looking for a crank arm escutcheon with its 2 screws for a VV-VI. Can anyone sell me a decent one for around $10? Obviously at this price I'm not expecting a museum piece. Thanks guys!

The Victrola VI was made for a long period of time. Parts including the escutcheon changed over time. Maybe a measurement like the distance between the screw holes would help. I'm sure George Vollema (231-652-5753) can help you with the correct escutcheon. Jerry Blais

Thanks Jerry! I knew the VV-VI and IV were the most common machines but I just assumed that parts like this were all he same. My machine is a 1923 VV-VI and the escutcheon plate is the type with two screws. They measure 35,, from center of hole to center of hole.

The escutcheon on the VV VI is on one from about 1913 - 1916. In 1917, when Victor added the A suffix to their machines, a lot of changes took place. The escutcheon was one of them. Since your machine is from 1923, the proper escutcheon is more slender than the one shown in the picture. Look at the new thread discussing a portable frankenphone. (I don't know how to transfer links to a thread)It shows the correct escutcheon. It is a common part that shows up on ebay.

Thanks Harvey! I haven't been able to locate the thread you mention but it's ok.Now that I know they changed over the 15 years of production I will be careful before buying.

I just want to let any reader know that I found the part I was looking for. I bought a reprodcution at a reasonable price from George Vollema of Great Lakes Antique Phonograph. [email protected]

George is definately a highly skilled and knowledgeable guy who also has lots of patience with "less than knowledgeable" customers like me.
I bought a replacement crank escutcheon plate from him but it wouldn't fit. I wrote to George and told him the details and he wrote back requesting a photo of the motor. Upon receipt he knew instantly what was wrong. Someone, many years before me, had installed a 2 inch crank extension post. From looking at it I would never have known that the piece was removeable but it was! After 30 seconds of careful work the extension was out, the escutheon plate fit and the crank arm didn't stick out so far. lol

The point is...George can probably do ANYTHING that may need doing when it comes to talking machines.
