The following is a response I received from Ron Dethlefson:
Rod, I believe that Blue Amberols with "Made in USA" on their rims were made for export. There
was an effort in the 1920s by American manufacturers to boost products made here. The
Made in USA mark was part of that effort. These marks seem to appear on Blue Amberols
pressed in the mid-1920s.

I have seen this marking on some of my cylinders, but never thought anything about it. Next time I am down with my collection, I'll take a look.

For what it's worth, "Made in U.S.A." was added to Diamond Disc labels beginning with 51830, which was matched on Oct 1, 1926.

I must have 1000+ BAs and have noticed Made in USA on a number of them. I never gave it a thought. Sometime I will make a systematic study of them to correlate dates. Apart from Edison, stamping a manufactured good Made in USA certainly did not begin as late as the 20's. Just last night, I was looking at a stack of single-sided Aeolian Vocalion disks dated 1916 and they were stamped Made in USA in the shellac near the label.
