The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

Hey guys, I found a nice small Columbia Cylinder phonograph, for $600.00. It looks like a key wind up machine. I have seen this before. It has what looks like patent dates on the side, and a decal on the bed plate. Sorry I do not have a photo as it was in a glass case at antique mall, and the may frown on taking photos of items for sale.

Sounds like a second-series Q Graphophone. These are common, and $600 would be an exorbitant price to pay for one. I'd advise against it.

Yea, I was not planning on spending the money. Thank you George. BTW: How much would victor sound boxes, tone arms and crank handles cost? Because the dealer who had the columbia, also had a bunch of sound boxes, tone arms, and hand cranks, for sale. Some looked like the needed some work.

That all depends on the type and condition. If they need work, they shouldn't bring more than a few dollars. If the parts are something you can use, make an offer for all of them. Perhaps after the dealers has them sitting around for awhile, he'll decide that a bird in the hand...
