I have been looking for an orthophonic Victor and came across this one. http://austin.craigslist.org/atq/2520549863.htmlDon't know if the paint is original or not and can't find a color picture that shows the front. "Look for the Dog" doesn't say anything about the red color but on one of Vitor sites it does show red on the cross inside. What do you think, good buy or not?
Do all the Orthophonic Victrolas have the tear drop reproducer?

that's not a terrible buy if it works and the cabinet's solid, provided you don't mind doing some restoration. the reproducer appears wrong - doesn't even look like a victor, let alone the correct gold-plated orthophonic type reproducer. and the paint definitely looks touched-up... the gold trim doesn't look right at all, and the remaining trim just seems way to bright.

Touched up paint, wrong reproducer- but those can be fixed and it's not a common machine.

The brighter blue is very common as people think the proper, toned down blue looks dirty. They scrub it until it's bright.... and ruined. The darker colors are more correct. There is some red around the knobs, however, this looks bit bright and may be touched up. Yes, the reproducer is wrong. Not very common however and overall not too bad. Careful touch up may bring back the proper tones/colors. I say buy it!
