I just received the Sept issue of National Geographic and saw this interesting picture.

seeing those machines in original context - especially this sort of context - never fails to amaze me. I wonder where that one ended up, or if it made it back at all. most intriguing to me, though, is the dog, who's name was chris. chris.

A spear point wood horn, no less! When you mush dogs in the Arctic, only the best phonographs will do.

Scott's gramophone was actually loaned to him by The Gramophone Company. It eventually returned to the company and is now in the EMI Archive.
