I have uploaded several Canadian Compo labels not mentioned on this site for all to see, from the 1920's. Please forgive the picture quality as they were taken with my cell phone!

Nice. I picked up a "Lucky Strike" disc at the last Wayne show just for the label, that was a Compo product as well, I beleive...red shellac, navy blue with gold print label.

Sun was Compo's own label in the early days. They had been pressing the Okeh catalogue for Phonola in Kitchener Ontario, and Starr Gennett for Canadian Starr, but the Sun label was their very own. It didn't last long: it was replaced by the more familiar APEX label . Lucky Strike, Microphone and Domino and Crown were all " chain store labels" . Domino was made for the Metropolitan Stores , but who the others were made for is a moot point: but obviously Zellers and Canadian Woolworth are good candidates. They all sold very well. I think Domino records sold for 25 cents. ( At least that's what my mother said, and she was of an age to have brought them home for my grandparents' Brunswick.) Half the time when as a kid I would play some Domino I had brought home I'd hear her say " We had that one.."
