Any ideas what this might be?

Hello All,
I stumbled across and am now bidding on this 7" Victor record as well as two or three other early 7" Victors. I love the early Victors and have several of the "standard" 7 inch records but I've never seen one like this. That's why I'm bidding on it.
Does anyone know what it might be?

It's a factory test pressing, usually used for quality control purposes. That will sell pretty high.

This is a test pressing of a recording which was (probably) later issued on Victor A-107. To be on the safe side, record and take number in the dead wax must be examined.
Be prepared to sacrifice 200$, or even more if it is an unissued take.

I saw these also, very exciting. I actually picked up a released copy of "Unchain the Dogs of War" at the CAPS show on a 7" Johnson lease label (A-102). The Victor discography shows 3 takes for this on a 10" master (B-102).

I looked at the wrong set of takes for the above, there were 13 or 14 takes on 7 " The earliest were in 1900.

So what you're trying to tell me is that my current bid of $11.00 probably will not win it? ....
I'll be bidding on it as well as three other 7" Victors (not white label) so I'm eager to see where they go. My budget is much too modest to bid beyond $30 or $40.
Thanks for the info though! When I ran across it last night I knew it had to be something very different.

Yes,
This one looks meant to be 'for internal use only'. Usually they were destroyed after evaluating, so surviving copies are pretty rare, hence ... And especially one as good looking as this. I wouldn't be surprised if it went way over $100.

On backside it is marked "148-13". What could this possibly mean? Do you have other Victors with similar markings?
This seller had listed some other Berliner and Victor test pressings in the past. I wonder where he got the lot from and what he (or she) still has.
