Merry Christmas, folks! Here's Art Payne from an acoustic Gennett, playing "Jingle Bells" from my stash, perhaps the earliest recording of this tune.

Nice, but it's certainly not the earliest: here's a Columbia from the early 1900s.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrplTVKOK2Q

Edit: After leafing through Allen Koenigsberg's Edison Cylinder Records, I've found what may be the earliest known recording of the tune: a banjo solo by Will Lyle, recorded on December 16, 1889......

I've never had a left handed acoustic guitar. Having a thinner neck and of course access to frets above the 12th fret, has opened up a whole new instrument to me. It's very suited to my playing style. The electronics are very impressive. I can't keep my hands off of it. ; )
Ummm....... Excuse me for asking, but what does this have to do with the thread topic?

Thanks much Sean for posting. I added to my Christmas playlist, just a little late for Christmas Eve, but there's always next year.

What year would this be from?

Not sure of the year, I'll check and see if it's in Rust when I get home later!

Per Rust, recorded 18 February, 1923. Art Payne didn't make many records, either.

It's a very nice recording. It's already added to my Christmas 2012 playlist for Christmas eve. Thanks again Sean for posting.
