I would like to buy castors for my VTLA. Anyone with a set they would like to part with, please PM me or drop me a line at
[email protected].
If anyone has record boxes also for a the VTLA, I am interested in buying those as well.

The VTLA used a certain type of casters unique to that machine and I don't think they're too easy to find (in fact, I need one myself), but a friend suggested a supply place that specializes in hard to find hardware, I have the link to the place in my email at home, I'll post it here later, but I confess I haven't checked the place out yet myself.

The casters in question, for anyone who has not seen them are actually rollers. They use a (approximately) one-inch steel ball that is set into a tube. The bottom edge of the tube is rolled inward to retain the ball and there is a mounting flange with screw holes to fasten the assembly to the bottom of the leg. Inside the upper end of the tube is ring of ⅛"? balls on which the larger ball rides. This is a very effective system which works quite well on ceramic tile and some carpets, but I wouldn't try it on your wood floors.
I have never seen them anywhere else and Victor only used them for a couple of years.

If that lovely L-door were mine, and I intended to move it over that beautiful wood floor it's sitting on, I'd seriously consider fitting the legs with modern casters (heresy, I know). At the very least, I'd recommend placing the legs, with or without casters, on teflon pads. I recently did this with my XI, and in addition I applied a c. 12" circle of Lemon Pledge under and around each pad. Now when I want to access the bookshelf behind the XI, it's an easy matter to move the unit without damaging the floor.

Van Dyke's was the place recommended, I just did a very quick query for casters and it looks like there are a lot of choices, even one that looks rather close.

Hope this helps,

Maybe a dumb question but does the later type of caster fit and work in the VTLA? Jerry

Nope, they're completely unique, unfortunately.

Something like this, maybe?
http://www.vandykes.com/blk-iron-caster ... /p/205673/. Except it doesn't mount with screws, as described by phonojim above, and they don't give dimensions, which is a frustration.
