There are some extraordinary machines, and I'm sure this sale will attract serious buyers with deep pockets. However, the estimates seem rather high!
I'd enjoy going, just to watch the sale!

All far, far beyond my meager means, but such a delight to see! I was glad they had a video clip of the Resotone Grand, I'd seen pics before but never heard one. In fact, I very much enjoyed the several video clips they provided of selected instruments. For anyone who attends, it would be interesting to know how prices realized stand up against the estimates. Some dandy stuff there....

I've wanted to hear THE Resotone Grand (there is only the one known) and it does sound very nice. Still, I can see why it wasn't a big seller- would you like to listen to nothing but tuned bell music?

the milhous "collection" seems less a collection than really just a free-spending amassing of anything and everything - motorcycles, automobiles, models, pianos, cars, furniture, display cases, a few victrolas, guns, more guns, etc.

I noticed various music boxes, player pianos and the like, but only a few phonographs (aside from the regina combination machine)... a victor fancy D with oak horn, with a reasonable 2000 to 3000 estimate, a victor VI with mahogany worn, with a 4000 to 6000 estimate... and then a basic credenza, 1500 to 2500 estimate, and a standard mahogany L-door, 2000 to 3000... estimates on the latter two seemed more in line with the auction as a whole, really overblown price-wise, at least so far as the estimates are concerned.

I had the privilege of viewing the Milhous Museum collection a couple of years ago in the very nice purpose-build building they constructed to house it. It was beyond fantastic and beautifully displayed. The best of the best and all beautifully maintained.
