Victor Victrola power cord...HELP!

I want to buy an "antique look" power cord that will connect a VV 8-4X to the wall outlet. I know a general extension cord would do the trick, but I'd like a power cord that looks like an original Victor cord. Do they exist? Where do I go? Who supplies them? HELP!

You might try a business that caters to restoration of old homes and vintage furnishings. In Portland, OR the business is called "Rejuvination". I would think that any moderate to large city would have something similar.

I use sundialwire too. You can get antique-style cloth covered wire and plugs of the type used back in the day.

Unless the wire is supple and like new, I would avoid it like the plague. One little crack in the rubber insulation, and you will have a fire waiting to happen. Seriously, save your house and yourself by purchasing new wire.

The Orthophonic machines did not use twisted wire, they used parallel silk or rayon covered lamp cord, of a larger diameter than currently manufactured. One of the makers from whom I buy, a lamp supplier, had a shipment of cord come through which was oversized, and nearly identical to the original Victor cordage. I have a number of reels of this, and would offer it to you, but you would need to be a bit patient, as I am currently away from my home in MI, caring for my aged mother, who recently had a craniectomy. The attatchment caps used during the Orthophonic era were generally General Electric, and made of Bakelite, though some early production shared the composition Hubbell caps with the pre-orthophonic models. The female receptacle was usually Black composition until the 1928 models. I have hoarded some original cord ends, to, and could help you out with those if you haven't found the correct stuff by the time I'm able to go home.
