WOW! Has it been three years already?

Post by Edisonfan »

I just realized I have been a member of this board for three years now, as well as the forum itself. I just looked on my profile, I joined January 7, 2009. All thanks to MordEth! For bringing me here from the old Victrola Music Message board, that went to POT!
This is a much better board anyways. I have been here since the beginning. Even, when this forum started on ProBoards, but was removed by them, and John and David, moved this board to a new server, which worked out much better. I have not heard from either of them, but their both busy, with work. I know I have not posted as much in recent years, as when I first Joined three years ago. But, every so often I pop in and look around, and see what's new? On occasion I will post something, but I have not had a whole lot to contribute to the board. Until now! I just posted another thread, about and Edison Phonograph, I need help with.

Anyway, I'm sorry I missed the anniversary! When, your not a regular on here you miss these things. Anyway, a Happy Belated Anniversary to the Talking Machine Forum! Hope 2012 is a good year for the Board.

Wow, three years since the OTVMMB meltdown!

My thanks also to John and David for the creation of this forum. I remember my shock and horror when I discovered the OTVMMB had disappeared and how we met up on the Edison Forum to discuss what had happened.

Like you Paul, I haven't been very active on this board since its creation but have been a regular visitor. Work and family have kept me very busy and I've also been converting an unfinished storage area in the house into a phonograph room. What I thought would be an 18 month project is now in its 6th year and finally nearing completion. My activity in the hobby is now on the upswing and I hope to have more to contribute in the near future.

The growth of this forum in three years has been impressive and the technical section has become a good source for research.

Here's to a good 2012!

Chalk me down as another regular visitor. I've been greatly encouraged and informed by the contents (and members) of this board, and count it as one of my daily pleasures to check in here.

I, too, am a regular. I look at the forum twice or more a day. I enjoy the camaraderie and helpfulness I see on this forum. I look at the trader section first, then tips, and then machines. This forum is a great asset to the hobby.

Yea, Meltdown is right. Having a complete "Off Topic" section is what started the downfall of that forum. Especially, when politics came into play, as well as lashing out at other members. I remember, someone warning me about David, which I did not fully understand? As he is a decent guy. Also he had sent me a PM explaining everything. Which btw, I have forgotten about. When you start an "Off Topic" forum, thats when things can get ugly. I know on occasion people on here will do an off topic thread, but it's usually not offensive or negative, and not very often. From what I have seen on here, everyone has stayed on topic. Which is they way it should be. If you want to talk about anything else, there are plenty of other forums out there, for that. John and David have both gone out of their ways, to make this a friendly and informative board, and I am glad it has stayed that way. Even though they have not been on here a whole lot, well not that I can tell? As I have not been on here a whole lot myself, but when I am on here everything stays friendly.

It's amazing to see how much this forum has grown in the last three years! There have been a lot more new members, signing up! Which is a good sign! It tells me people are interested in antique phonographs! I myself, have received a lot of good and informative information form other members on here. This is a really great forum, and I am thankful to John and David for starting it. Even though our Admin's are not on here all the time, there are enough senior members to monitor the board, and make sure everyone has a god time. As long as no one "SPAMS" or attacks other members, this will continue to be a great place to come and maybe learn something new.

Thank you John and David for creating this forum, and for allowing all of us to be members here!

Here is to the next three years, and beyond!

Don't kid yourself, there are LOTs of SPAM members (evidenced by signatures with links to SPAM sites), so the number of real members is lower than you think. These are also easy to spot with the website links in their member bios.

So only half of the members are real people?
