Found this listing and thought maybe someone on the board would be interested since you don't see these everyday.http://connecticut.freeantiqueshopper.c ... -1906.html Only 880 of these were made. I don't know how to add a picture of the page. Maybe someone can. I'd buy it if I was any where near there.

Before anyone goes nuts like i did... LOL The guy selling it had a large number of calls from states away, and is pulling the machine from craigslist. He told me that he is going to list it on ebay.
A sad day for all us collectors

As soon as I saw this, I suspected that might happen, I didn't even bother calling the guy even though he's only a couple of hours away. It's a beautiful and rare machine for sure, but I'm outta room, anyway!

It'll be at least fun to watch it sell on eBay.

Well I tried. Sorry one of you couldn't pick it up. It would have been a nice buy. I couldn't believe it when I saw it listed so soon after finding mine at auction on New Years day.

As an enthusiast of cylinder machines only, and of limited knowledege at that, what makes this phonograph so desirable? What makes this "record" player so special----besides it's production numbers? If I had more room for machines such as this I might venture over to the " other side" (other than cylinders) but would like to learn.

Is it the pics or just me, but it looks like the finish on the outside might have been stripped / thinned / messed with in some way? :monkey:

Just the low production number and attendant rarity, coupled with the fact that it is a high-dollar model produced at the very end of the acoustical recording era when any number of less expensive machines produced by any number of manufacturers could be had by a consumer. Mechanically and sonically it's a 'pedestrian' gold-plated Victrola.

Why the huge increase in price, from $300 in the Free Antique Shopper, to $600 on eBay?
