Hi

Need help to identify this machine, the sound box is gramola, but is the machine? the owner tells me that this has been in there family for many decades. What are your thoughts?

It's a crapophone Marcel, though an early one from the 1970s. The Gramophone Co never made cabinets with glass panels, & they certainly wouldn't use a Thorens motor.
As far as Im aware, the Gramola's were high end internal horn cabinet grand machines.

Exactly, additionally its a suitcase portable hardware in a new wood case. Tone arm is not what one would find on a horn machine.

Thanks for your replies. This is just what I had thought. When I suggested this was the case, the owner was very reluctant to accept it, telling me it had been in the family for a very long time, now I know I was right with my suspicion.

Regarding the horn and back bracket, are those vintage parts or reproductions?

The horn appears to be an original, but as for the backbracket, it's hard to tell without a better photo, but I'd expect it to be a 70s repro.
