Ok I have a Victor 11 horn photograph. I also have two japanned steel horns for it.(black & brass) Both are in great shape with nice decal. I only want to keep one. I have a 16 ½ diam bell and a 18 ½ diam bell. Which one would you keep? Is one worth more then the other?

The horn with the 16.5" bell is a "J" horn and was standard on a Vic IV and optional on the Vic III. Your horn with the 18.5" bell is an "O' horn and was standard on a Vic V or optional on a Vic IV. I personally would use the smaller of the two horns on your Vic II. Technically, even the small one is a little too large.

Everyone on the Forum that is interested in Victrolas and Victor horn machines should own a copy of the "Victor Talking Machines" originally printed by The Talking Machine Company in Chicago, Illinois. It is a price list of machines, horns, records and supplies as well as "The Cabinet that Matches" for Victors I through VI. The late John Davis, a good friend and mentor collector, had this wholesale catalog reproduced back in the 1970's. The catalog was printed at a time when the I through VI were the primary Victor product being sold but also at the time of the VTLA so the XVI and XX are featured. Also included is the Auxetophone as well as the Victor Junior and Victor O. The catalog was originally printed when the black flowered horns were replacing the Black-Japanned steel horns (black & brass). This reproduced catalog contains a wealth of information in the 26 pages. I'll mail it to anyone in the States for $7 postage paid. End of commercial...

I ordered this catalog a while ago, and it's great. Information on record cabinets is very difficult to find (notice the number of record cabinet inquiries on this board?), and a bunch of the "Cabinet That Matches" models are shown and priced. Plus the Victor machines are all pictured and described. The reproduction is crisp - - someone did a beautiful job. And this is no flyer or small brochure - it's 26 pages of information. For 7 bucks, it's crazy NOT to get one!

Well I did buy the Vic 11 from the original family ant the 18 ½ horn was on it. I dont think it would be a replacement. I would think its original to the machine.

just to be clear, you're talking about a victor II (as in 2), rather than a victor 11 (or XI), right?

Yes Its a Vic 2, and I was wrong it came with the 16 ½ bell. Its was the owners great aunts. When I bought it, it was stored in the garage. I don't think he really cared about it. He placed a ad on Craigslist asking $50 for it.
