I know this is a volume control for probably most models of cylinder machines, but does anyone know if it is made by edison for the edison machines. I know they are kind of rare and hard to find. It came in a box of parts I got. No markings, but all of the ones I have seen have no markings. I've seen them run from $50 to $120. Don't let my name fool you. I am a edison phonograph guy, but continue to learn everyday. lol

Wow, Nice piece. I doubt if it is Edison made since Edison marked everything. That does not mean that it was not carried by Edison though - such as tone arms and Diamond Disc Conversion kits. (to convert to normal 78's play)

Maybe someone will recognize it.. This is obviously for a cylinder phonograph.

Very nice accessory but a sock might work better. I'll trade two clean matching ones and pay all postage.

It might be worth doing a search on google patents? I'd try different phrases like volume control: volume modifier: tone modifier etc...for phonographs: Edison phonographs etc.
It would probably take some time to go through everything, but you might find a match eventually.
Just remember to use the "oldest first" option, to open any you want to look at in a new tab (or you'll have to repeat the search if you try to go back to the list), and to scroll upward to see the drawings that accompany the patents text information.
You might also find your horn connection elbow this way too.
