There is some information on the internet about Willard Hodgin. He recorded for both Edison and Victor in 1928. He is a good banjo performer and guitarist. I have 2 of his Edison Diamond disc records. Interestingly enough, I played both records at the recommended 80 RPM speed, but the recording sounds like it's going too fast. I tried slowing the speed and it sounds more appropriate at 78 or 76rpm. Has anyone come cross this with Willard Hodgins records or other diamond disc recordings? Is 80 rpm appropriate or did the Edison studios purposely record the artist at a slower speed?

If the Edisons are 1928 electrics and the matrix numbers are above 19000, they should be played at 78 RPM as should any DD above 19000 as pointed out by Ron Dethelefson to me a few years ago.
