Material suggestions for brake mechanism

Has anoyone replaced the brake "pad"...if so what material is suggested and best adhesive to use.

you can use leather (reccomended), rubber or fabric, no adhesive needed, the metal part around the current leather should be able to be bent slightly allowing you to remove the old leather and put the new material in then you simply bend it back

I use a small piece of leather cut from a treadle sewing machine belt. I've heard others say they use thin flat leather sheeting which they glue & roll up to create a solid tube of the correct diametre. Personally I couldnt be bothered with all that mucking around when a sewing machine belt is only a few dollars & you have enough to do 100's of brakes & governor leathers.

You might try a shoe repair shop or a sewing machine repair business for a piece of leather. Jerry B.

A section of a leather boot lace, folded over on itself if necessary, might work. Leather laces are widely available at sporting goods stores, outdoor and camping equipment suppliers, shoe stores, etc. Not expensive, either.

Ebay is a source for various diameters of sewing machine belt material ,I recenty purchased a couple of feet of ¼ inch for less than $6 including shipping, Bob S
