Who can give my orthophonic reproducer a tune-up?

Please bear with me, I'm a total novice. After decades spent mesmerized by my Aunt Helen's VV 4-40, I've been entrusted with its care and feeding. I'm pretty sure the reproducer needs fixing, or at least tuning up. I'm mechanically illiterate -- untrainably so. I'm hoping I can manage to remove the reproducer and mail it (well padded!) to someone who can fix it or at least tune it up? Am I dreaming or do you guys know of someone? Thanks in advance.

There are several reputable repair facilities to handle your reproducer. I personally use Walt Sommers of Gettysburg Antique Phonographs as my first choice. His email is
http://www.Victrolaguy.com.
He also sells a very good line of phonograph needles.
Good Luck

I can also vouch for Walt, give him a call. He is also cyber_tigger on Ebay for supplies. There are many others also, some on this forum. John

I had Peter Wall in San Francisco do my 8-35 reproducer and it sounds fantastic. He deals primarily through eBay as peterw4214. Walt is fairly unresponsive so I didn't feel comfortable sending him anything for fear that it would be a year before I got it back.
(And for you conspiracy theorists out there: No, I am not Peter Wall....)

I was considering sending one to Walt, but changed my mind based on several negative reports. Many people recommend him, but I decided not to risk the same outcome experienced by several members here.

I used Wall to repair the reproducer on my 9-15 and was pretty pleased with the result--and the turn around time was reasonable.

Wall. See references to Peter Wall earlier in this thread.
