My SAAL motor is a 2 barrel as pictured below. I cannot get that shaft out. I ve seen many videos where some motors they slide right out. I tried moderate pressure but only gives a quarter inch..there doesnt seem to be clips holding it. I dont want to pull too hard without asking you guys your thoughts. Its possible that the goo is so thick its coagulated? I dont want to unscrew the barrels until i get that out. help...
Also, i have an old motor sitting around with a bent spindle, has anyone tried a good method for straightening it.

The shaft is on page 287 of the Honest Quaker catalog, and is an F381-47T called a spring box shaft there is an indent on the end for what looks like a set screw, maybe the set screw is still in place and not letting the shaft through. It has been awhile since I had serviced one, but I have done a couple. The two smaller gears are the winding gear, which should be the shaft that goes through, and come out as if you were pulling the gear outwards, away from the barrel. The larger gear is the J282 which is the main gear with the spring hook. I think though you need to unscrew the two halves of the spring barrel, it is possible the far right spring is keeping the shaft from coming out.

Yes..there was a small set screw that was covered by gunk, simple as that.
