i was bored today so i decided to take my edison model C reproducer apart (for no apparent reason!) and since i have now found out how to dismantel it, how do i properly re-build it and where can i get the gaskets from? is there anything i can use for a gasket?

Any large phono parts dealer should have gaskets precut for that model -- they are common as dirt, and nearly as cheap. Nothing else to replace. Don't screw the retaining ring down too tight, you'll have to experiment to find the best sound.

Exactly what the above post said, APSCO has them, Ron Sitko has them Wyatt's has them too, they run lest than $3..00 a pair and really make the difference. I would like to make gaskets of sorbothane that would be even better. Honestly though the original gaskets, when they were new, were made of soft, natural gum rubber and were a tad softer than the new ones, so these machines probably had a little more bass and volume than what most hear today, even with new gaskets. Yes the retainer ring should have just enough pressure to seal from air leaks, and no more, for tightness. A good method is to tighten the bezel down a little, blow in the neck, and take little tiny changes in pressure until no more air leaks, and leave it at that.
