Hello!
My question is very simple: what is the correct "resting position" of a front mount machine? Can I let the arm (with its reproducer and its needle) putting on the turntable felt, or it's more correct let all items hanging down from cabinet side?
My front mount talking machine is a Victor M.

Both the ones mentioned are correct, I don't think there is a incorrect way to rest the arm

Actually, the safest and all around best way to leave a front mount when not in use is with the reproducer resting on the turntable without needle. There is no need to place unnecessary stress or strain on the arm yolk,etc. This advice comes from a collector that has many FM machines.

I also rest mine on the turntable.

I vote "turntable" as well. Sometimes an old leather elbow isn't too strong, and I wouldn't want excess weight on it - - which might well result from letting the horn,traveling arm, and sound box "hang down."
