Worth of VV-50?

There is a VV-50, #63244 in a local resale shop. It looks complete, with definite hinges issues in back. Price is $75, pictures below. Is this worth grabbing for parts or just to have, even though I'm not a serious collector (I should focus on the RE-45 variant I have)?

Thanks,

vince

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. Problem is, I'm not good at selling stuff, but very good at gathering it.... So I'll now be justified in trying to buy it tomorrow morning.

Thanks!

Vince, You're coming to the Union show aren't you? Buy it, bring it to the show, raise the price to cover your early admission and have a great time. You can even sit it on our table while you're there. If the hinge is the only problem, I'll give you $100 for it. Jerry Blais

Okay, so I dragged it home. The manager seemed to think I was odd to want to pay good money for an old and broken record player in a box. How little she knows...

I may hang onto it, especially if it works. It seems pretty complete. I will look around for a new hinge and a few more screws from someone with parts.

When and where is the Union show? I'm about 60 miles west of Chicago.

Years ago you could buy such a hinge at hardware stores. Ask to look at "piano hinges" or "continuous hinges," for that's what they're called. I've seen them in a bright nickel finish, don't know about the gold (brass?), but it looks like nickel would match your machine quite well. And if your source only has long ones, you can carefully cut it to length with a fine-toothed hacksaw. They probably come in different widths, too; bring your measurements along with you.

You can find early buyer passes listed on ebay. It costs $40.00 at the door so you might be able to bid and get one cheaper.....

It is about an hour north of me. I might be able to make it, we'll have to see how the schedule looks by that weekend. Thanks for the tip about the tickets, $40 is high, even with all the cool stuff, but a good bit less might tempt me to come for a look-see.
