Berliner Copy

A nice Berliner copy on Ebay right now. It looks very well made. I just can't understand why the maker did not use the correct aluminum plate. You can buy an exact copy of the plate for very little $$. IMO, it would have finish off the machine better.
I'm also not sure I would agree with "Firebottles" comment in his write up about saving $40,000 buying this one over an original... :o. I can't say I have seen a real one sell for even close to that price. Still, for a guy that wants one for display....it is nice.

Looks pretty good but along with the anomaly of using a decal instead of an embossed plate, the front pulley is also mounted too far back. It should be much closer to the front horn support post. And the crank is much too long. Those are such simple details compared to things like the construction of the reproducer that I wonder how the maker missed them?

Perhaps the maker intended the replica to be distinguishable from an original, to prevent fraud.
