here is a horn i have been working on for a while, i had some traffic cones donated to me by the local council and i have been converting them to horns since.
this onee has took alot more work than it looks, it needed to be trimmed both at the top and bottom then cut down the middle then i had to cut the correct amount out of it in a triangle shape so that they will fit together so that the smaller end will evenly fit around a copper connector then it had to be stuck back together, i then had to cut alot of slits in the larger end and bend it out to become a bell then filled with cardboard and paper mache put on the outside (it will only stick to the outside, the inside will have to be sanded and rougheded up to allow the glue to stick)
now all i need to do is to fill the inside to make it look even then sand the inside for more paper mache and paint
i will post another video when it is finished
the thinner end is made from a copper connector with pvc pipe sticking out to allow the rubber connector to be attached which is made from a piece of garden hose!

Just watched your youtube video on your home made horn. Excellent job! sounds great. I want one for my Edison Standard lol..
What a great idea. Im in the process of making a Home made Victrola. I have a motoroboard and tone are from a parts Orthophonic machine. im working on the case now but i was trying to figure out how to make a horn for it? and you just gave me some ideas. Great Job!

hopefuly it will look better and sound better when completely done!
i might try and make a cabinet mounted crane for my fireside but at the moment i am using a homemade floor crane made from a camera tripod.
what you could do (And i might) is to make a main one and use it as a mold for others made from something like fiberglass

I would like to say well done on you horn, I totally disagree with the negative comments you got on you tube. I think your doing a great job especially as I know your funds are limited. Can't wait to see your fiberglass horn when you have finished.

thanks, i will at some point be buying a all brass phonograph horn and i could use that to cover in fiberglass and create a mould,the only problem would be is that i have to have a former to go over the outside to make it perfectly smooth, when i can figure out how to make them efficiently i may offer the horns up for sale if they work out!

I just might take you up on that! I stay with an old friend, a retired Canon from your cathedral, our at North Tyneside. I'd love to see that horn!
