After I had a run in with a few forum members, I think I introduce myself.
First of all for the "run in's" I am very sorry and I would like to apologize to the members in question.

I got interested with gramophones when I was 10, and that was over 40 years ago.
Only after I got to the US and after working my way up from illegal alien, was I able to try to dig into phonos grammys. I read every available resources on the topic, I read "From tinfoil to" several times, and I have most books on Victors. Now at my mature age I wanted to get to my first love, the Berliners. I love the workmanship the hand work of a skilled craftsman that went into these machines. I love the sound that they make and when I listen to some of my records made in the acoustic era I can appreciate the "power of the human voice".
I am NOT a collector, but an enthusiast. I only own two Victor portables, a Victor 8-9 and an Edison Standard. I have a wide array of sound boxes, I love to tinker with them and hear the results on the 8-9. I tried several different diaphragms in my Meltrope, Orthophonic and HMV 5A, using different gasket materials also. Nothing scientific just to see how much difference I can hear.
The Edison I bought 15 years ago. It was in a poor shape and was not running. I cleaned and fixed up the motor and and it is working well even today. What I did to that machine I am not proud of, stripped down to bare skin, repainted and re "decaled" all over! I will NEVER EVER do that again.
Thanks! :D
P.S. I am not sure whether this should have been posted in this thread?

I've wanted a wind up machine with a horn since I was probably 5 or so, but sadly I will probably never be able to afford one. :| That's ok though. I am really starting to like cabinet models.

Welcome to the forum.
