Hi

Where can I get a rubber flange for my Selecta Deluxe soundbox, as well as extra micas?

For the connection between the stylus and the diaphragm, is it better to use bee wax or other material? In Portugal, during Summer, we often get more than 35º C (sometimes more than 40º C).

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
António

I have a smilar Swiss made soundbox with the same type of back flange. I simply took an Exhibition flange, line it up, drilled two holes (I think one of the existing two fit) and filled the surplus hole with liquid rubber (or Silicone). The only problem was that I had to leave the metal plate off, because the screws were too short. Works like a charm.

The wax is only to make the connection between the needlebar and the diaphragm air tight, the actual connection is usually with a tiny little screw. So bees was should still be no problem at your temperatures I think.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! But where did you find the Exhibition flange?

You can get the Exhibition flange from all the usual phonograph parts suppliers. There are a bunch of the US based ones listed here http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... ?f=8&t=195. I also had good experience buying from Ken Priestley in the UK http://www.fonograf.com/. I know that there are other suppliers in the Netherlands and Germany, but I have never dealt with any of them. You can usually find supplies like that on eBay as well, but typically a bit more expensive.
