Revised - Questions about floor model clear finish coat !!??

Hello,
I have my grandmothers Victor Victorla VVX-324975 floor model.
When I was a child growing up, my parents stored this in a outdoor unheated shed for years. Living in the northwest all the dampness & moisture
crackled the clear finish badly, and the mahogany veneer started to lift on the storage doors. When I rescued it, I took '0000' fine seal wool and lightly
removed all of the exterior clear finish coat. After years of letting it acclimate indoors, all that moisture in the wood itself - is now gone, and the wood looks "beautiful" now, minus all the crackle damage. And, everything works perfectly, and it plays like new.
My question is -
*Would you have removed that badly moisture crackled finish? or left it original?
*What would you suggest I use on it now for a finish coat? Or would I use like a Tung oil or something like that, rather than a sealer?
*What is the stain brand & color used now days to replicate that original burgundy/purple finish - to touch up lighter areas in the wood veneer exterior?

Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank You!!!
