This was listed as a Victor Mission Style Victrola on CL. Haven't seen one like this before. When I called about it , it was already sold so I didn't ask any further questions. Any ideas what model this is?

It seems to resemble a Columbia Mignon Graphonola to me.

Didn't the very early HMV equivalent of the flat top Pooley look something like this? Jerry

It's on page 103 of His Master's Gramophone. Similar to the Junior Grand of 1912-1914. supposedly shown in Dutch catalogs.
(there is another one for sale on the website of "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" ;) )

It's a plain case but i wouldn't call it mission- surprisingly that was not a popular style in phonographs at all. I've seen very few actual Mission or Craftsman cases for any sort of phonograph. Most makers settles for cases that were just plain and straight but lacked the construction details found on mission furniture.

Here's the photo of an HMV Junior Grand in "Pale Oak" --

It looks like a close match to the one in the photo you posted, save for the finish.

Another version is listed here -- http://www.gramophones.uk.com/informati ... 9_375.html

These were not "period style" gramophones, but right out of the standard HMV catalog. I'd call the style, "Early Plain," or "Doubles as a w.c." or perhaps "Blanket Chest..."

Very interesting, I think it could grow on me..

It seems that many years back I had a Chaney which had a rather mission looking dark oak case?

Thanks for all the information everyone. It's just that it looked so different. I knew I hadn't seen anything like it in the books I have.
