Hello all,

As you may know from a post a couple of days ago, I picked up a Diamond Disk C150 I'm starting to work on. The grille cloth has obviously been replaced on my example and I have not been able to find anything on the net clearly showing the original color of the cloth. If you have one with the original cloth, what color and texture should it be?

My C150 had a few shards of cloth that was a light yellow-green. Personally, I didn't care for it, so I used a slightly shiny golden beige color I got at my local fabric store. It's very similar to this one:

That seller also has other colors and fabrics available, but again, my local fabric store has even more to choose from.

Edison's grille clothes appear to have been fairly standardised across the range AFAIK, with very few color choices, and these differed for oak or mahogany finishes. Sometime in the mid 20's, the cloth was changed from a plain to patterned weave, so knowing the approximate year your machine was manufactured can help in deciding which to use.
You'll find a couple different cloth colors and the pattern used on later machines here.

I got a few from this seller. They are very sheer, nice stuff.

You can see original Olive Green for oak here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... +c19#p7546

And in a mahogany A250 here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 250#p22777

The back side of the A250 cloth is much darker, a very dark maroon, almost black originally I'm guessing.

Thanks all. Should have mentioned that my C150 is the deep red mahogony. The maroon may be a good bet as to what it had.
