I am currently working on a Victor II from around 1906. I was surprised that when I removed the motor from the motor board that the washers in between were rubber, not felt. I always thought that Victor always used felt washers, even late into the Victrola days. Could it be that they used rubber washers in 1906, or is it more likely that someone replaced them sometime since?

My Vic VI has felt washers as do other machines I own. Sounds like yours may have been replaced with the rubber variety.

Ditto for my VV-XI: felt washers

All mine have felt. However they are later than the Victor II.

Just Google "felt washers." I easily found some almost exact duplicates for very little. (Unfortunatley I didn't keep the URL though.)

I just use a punch and make my own from a sheet of felt.

Interesting that eveyone has found felt washers. My Victor III...and it's an early III..had ossified rubber washers. But it might have been serviced at some point. I don't mean by a collector, I mean in the acoustic era. Similarly I have had two Victrola VI's with rubber washers as well.
