Start/Stop Lever on Columbia Graphophone Type B

I'm nearly finished cleaning and rebuilding the Columbia machine I got from MTPhono, and I noticed something strange. The Start/Stop lever is backwards. The handle points toward the governor, which makes it a bit tricky to stop without taking off a finger. At first I thought the lever was just on backwards, but as you can see in the photos, that's not the case. Could this be a factory error? The handle on the lever seems like it's permanently in place, so I can't take it out and flip it the right way. Any thoughts? :monkey:

It certainly looks like a factory error! Where was Quality Control on that one? Of course, there were more egregious errors on Eagles. In the last issue of The Antique Phonograph, there's a photo of an Eagle lid with the decal applied upside-down...

Just figured it out - - that on/off lever is from a Type Q.

Thanks for the info George, it makes sense that it's the wrong part. Now all I have to do is find the correct one...
