That's what happens to me too, although I know where you might be going with this.
I recently posted uploaded a couple dozen records, titles recorded in the early teens on cylinder including "Dixie", "La Marseilles" and other not exactly newly written tunes. On some of them I get as many as four or five copyright claims. I disputed them all. Some were released right away. About ten remain as "resolution pending" after a couple of weeks!
Who are these entities that claim copyright on virtually everything that's posted???

This issue led me to delete my you tube account for this very reason. There was one company in particular that claimed copyright on many of the tunes I posted. After some research I discovered that that company was owned by sony.... DO they relly think they will capture much revenue from such old tunes?

Exactly, and I really don't understand how a company like that can possibly have copyright on a 95+ year old recording.

Just three weeks ago I had the same problem with more than questionable claim by company called IODA from California, claiming to own the rights for the sound on my
Tosca Enrico Caruso cylinder - after it had been online for almost four years!
I only was able to argue against that under the German copyright section, which said that their claim must have been false or even fraudulent. Three hours after my appeal, YouTube sent me another mail saying, that IODA had retracted their claim. I am 100%, that if I hadn't argued with certain articles I had lost this case. They do seem to be pretty successfull with their "claims".

Current third party copyright claims I'm disputing include.
Recorded, - Blue Amberol no., - Title, - No of claims, - no released,
1909 --- ---- 4046 ---- ----Semper Fidelis ---- 6 --- 2
1912 --- ---- 28100 ---- ----Barcarolle ---- 3 --- 1
1909 --- ---- 2029 --------Nat'l Emblem March ----3 --- 1
1912 --- ---- 2439 ---- ----La Marseillaise ---- 6 --- 2
1913 --- ---- 28174 --------Pagliacci Prologue ----4 --- 0
Sometimes one or two claims get released only to be replaced by a couple more...

I have at least another dozen on which eventually all claims were released after I disputed them.
Look at La Marseillaise. Is it really possible that six entities could have claimed copyright on this 1912 recording???

I have a few as well, it's quite ridiculous, especially since some of these recordings are over 100 years old.
Even more frustrating is that someone recently went through all of my videos and disliked each and every one of them. I have a good idea who it was, but that's another story...

It is quite ridiculous I agree. It's also quite ridiculous that, (as far as I know)there's no way to see who disliked your videos or to remove those dislikes either. I bet your "good idea who it was" is right btw.

Yes it was IODA who was one of the popular copyright claimers for my videos.....interesting how they seem to think they own the copyright to public domain recordings
