Mahogany.

It's either been stored in very favorable climate conditions for the last 90 or so years or perhaps refinished, kind of hard to tell by that picture, though.

Agree. Wish mine had looked like that when I bought it.

I thought so but they usually look so dark. The lady is asking $200 and I am really considering picking it up.

Mine is a bit darker, but similar. I find that camera flash usually makes a machine look lighter and more glossy than is really is. Here are 2 pics of mine.

That is gorgeous. Perhaps it has been refinished. Maybe I'll wait. I know of a chippendale I can get for less since it needs cleaned up a little.

Definately Mah - nice looking piece Moxi. If I came across one for that price I would snap it up and probably get evicted from the house for bringing another machine home.....

Is your machine refinished? If so..what stain and brand of.

I sincerely doubt it. There is some crazing in the finish and some amateurish touch ups with scratch cover marker, even a coffee cup ring heat on the lid. The pictures make it look lighter and brighter because of the flash, which was my point. I did use Goop on the whole thing when I got it, but I have not used any kind of stain anywhere, not even Howard's. The nickel plating was also above average, though not perfect. I had to send the spring out and I had to make a governor adjustment, but otherwise I've done nothing of consequence to it.
