Odd Bracket on Vic III

Picked-up a cheap Vic III at auction today. Any idea on what this bracket is and why someone would add it?

I believe that it holds the little pasteboard box that came with the machine for new and used needles.

Uncle Vanya is correct, it's a holder for a Victor needle box.

Thanks. First time I have ever seen one. Looked thru the F&P books looking for a photo. Can anyone reference a photo of a bracket and / or box?
