End of a Canadian Summer with Brunswick. 1928

The Canadian National Exhibition is currently on here in Toronto.It"s the traditional signal that the end of summer is upon us. The " Ex" has a long history as the fall fair to end all fall fairs and, more importantly, it used to be THE showcase for new technology. Now it's more of a showcase for corndogs and deep friend Mars bars. But in the glory days it was quite a show. Here's the centrefold from the 1928 programme. These were essentially a book with ads and schedules and pictures and lists of exhibitors. They're fascinating documents. Brunswick , as you can see was very active. The Canadian plant was here in the city and so the Ex was Canadian Brunswick's home town show , and in the late 20's they were sparring with Victor for market dominance. This is just a tad wide for my scanner. The bit cut off over John Charles Thomas reads " A perfect musical picture"
